Green Webhosting & Evoswitch - green action #24:

Hi!
It's tuesday; here's another green action I took: green webhosting!


As you might have noticed I have a new business with a new website online called "Moodlab"

Websites need to be hosted, you need online space to stall 'em, amd what better way to do it green.
More and more hosting services are waking up and doing their bit for the environment.
I checked several of them: Dreamhost.com Yourhosting.nl and Greenhost.nl
All and all it doesn't matter where you are on the globe if you choose a provider.

Things to look out for are:
-How user friendly is their cPanel system 
Most Dutch hosts use their own kind of cPanel, and although they're not all in Dutch, it might be convenient to check out in case you have a webmaster/builder that is not Dutch...

I choose for Greenhost & Yourhosting, because they use:
-a cPanel that is in english
- 70% less energy than most providers
- Evoswitch, http://www.evoswitch.com/en  -  2 datacentres for optimal safety & up-time. Safe idea. If a storm hits one place, the other one may still be up and you'll have no downtime.

- Donations to Bits of freedom ( so they make sure digital rights, focussing on privacy & communications freedom  are protected

And they have awesome customer service; so green, experienced, innovative and committed.

Het is weer dinsdag; hier is weer een groene actie: groene webhosting!


Zoals je misschien is opgevallen heet Niene.nu voortaan "Niene's Moodlab"

Websites moeten gehost, je hebt ruimte op het web nodig om de site te installeren, en hoe beter dan een groene host te vinden. 
Er zijn steeds meer groene hosting services
Ik heb verschillende bekeken: Dreamhost.com Yourhosting.nl en Greenhost.nl
Uiteindelijk maakt het niet veel uit waar je bent op aarde en welke host je kiest.


Ik heb gelet op:
-Hoe gebruikersvriendelijk hun cPanel systeem is
De meeste Nederlandse hosts gebruiken hun eigen ontworpen  cPanel systeem, en alhoewel dat geen probleem hoeft te zijn is het wel slim om te kijken of jij of je webbouwer er wat mee kunnen. In het Nederlands of Engels... 

Ik koos voor Greenhost & Yourhosting, want:
- hun cPanel that is inhet engels
- ze gebruiken 70% lminder energie dan de meeste andere services
- ze maken gebruik van Evoswitch, http://www.evoswitch.com/en  -  ze hebben 2 locaties; 2 datacentres voor optimal veiligheid & up-time. 
Prettig idee!. Als een storm de ene plek wegblaast, staat je website altijd nog veilig op de andere.

- Ze doneren aan to "Bits of freedom" ( Je digitale rechten, privacy en vrijheid van meninguiting wordt beschermd)  https://www.bof.nl/home/english-bits-of-freedom/    - en ze zijn "log-free"; ze checken niet  wie en wat je emailt.
- plus ze ondersteunen organisaties die geven om vrijheid van meningsuiting, het milieu en cultuur.
En natuurlijk hebben ze een goede klantenservice.

Dus opsommend: groen, ervaren, innovatief en betrokken.
