WELCOME TO MY MOODLAB!
I am niene.nu: fine art photographer, based in Groningen, the Netherlands.
Wonderful to have you around in my Moodlab!
In my work I create space to be
to connect to life
and because in that process your mind will clear
it opens you up to all kinds of options, taps into your potential.
it generates color and 'Appetite for life'
The formless into form; that's what -seems to me- 'life' is about.
At this point in time I like to use a camera within that process,
to explore and experiment with the multitude of options opening up within that frame.
It generates awesome experiences and a diversity in output.
But always profound,
brimming with life.

ARTIST STATEMENT
why I do what I do:
I love trying to make you motivated, feel inspired, happy, question, startle, mesmerise, dream, think, ...etc.
In short: I like to make you feel! Feel alive.
I want to pull you out of the grey of the ordinary day.
Or, as the famous street photographer Meyerowitz so eloquently said:
“Life should be about 'Appetite for life'!”
why evidence based design?
To me making photo-art for evidence based design is an ideal combination: I get to create inspiration, feelings of
well being, beautify spaces, Re-use my healthcare and education experience and make a difference in peoples lives.
And all of the above by doing what I love most: make the images in my head come to life, putting them into matter
by letting them transmute through my body, ithrough the camera into the world.
themes that fascinate me:
‘Perspective’ & ‘perception’; How do we label things, how do we do life? How can we see & hear the same thing and
experience something totally different? And even within your own space; the inner and outer worlds of your body .
With your skin as a border.
How they relate to each other, these are recurring themes.
techniques I use:
Daylight/ available light is a decision I made to support the environment.
'Mash ups' is a term I use to describe the technique of layering and blending several photographs to create a totally
new 'world' evoking strong emotions and thoughts.
To have total freedom and to create the right vibe or feel, I use Lightroom and Adobe: The way I photograph is
mostly very intuitive.
Mostly I have an idea, a concept and then images I've already shot become of use. Or I will go out and add some
new materials. I stack these photo's in layers in photoshop and blend them to form a whole new story that conveys
my concept. The mixture redefines the separate photographs.
This way of working provides me total freedom and the best way to actualise the images that live in my head.
And it transports and immerses the viewer to the vibe I want to convey so I and commmunicate directly to them.
I strive to ignite more senses than just the eye.
sources of inspiration:
I find inspiration everywhere: Internet, talks with people, nature, music, architecture, art, history. I often wonder:
why do people do what they do? What is this life experience all about?
Experiences I gained in my former educational/health care jobs, where I worked with refugees and developmental
delayed people contributed to these thoughts.
The way you choose to perceive the world has a huge impact. On everything we do.
Everybody creates their own experiences. It’s such a fascinating given to me!
I am fascinated by the fact that we both can have the same camera, stand at the same spot, photograph the same
object with the same lens and yet we come up with a totally different picture.
