PROJECTS : NEXT STOP
|
next stop
Next stop is a photo work by the Groningen duo 'De Figuren', comprised of the director Saskia Jeulink and photographer Niene.nu.
Both are oriented toward form and symbolism.
About "Next Stop"
More and more people move to a rural environment.
In a city all needs are easily met in a blink of the eye; the city is bursting with lively promises.
We are 'more prosperous than ever before in history'.
According to many researches, we're even happier than ever.
Self actualization is no longer an abstract word for most people in the western world; the top of Mazlovs hierarchy of needs is met!
So now what…?
About 'De Figuren' (= The Figures)
'De Figuren' consists of Saskia Jeulink (director) and Niene.nu (photographer),
both image creators and both aiming for form and symbolism.
When they met (in the city), they decided to co-create "Next Stop".
In this project they show their perspective regarding the current Western Society, by connecting and being inspired by two masterpieces on life's meanings and needs: the theatre play: "Waiting for Godot" by Samuel Beckett and the "Hierarchy of needs" by Abraham Maslow.
De Figuren wanted to visualize these works in a documentary style, without staging the subject.
Both are oriented toward form and symbolism.
