How to wear green clothes- green action #25

Hi!

As a photographer I need clothes. Duh! 
-NICE excuse LOL -
But I need them to be : comfortable. weather proof. strong,good quality, good colour, preferably cool, well dressed, don't go to waste after 1 visit in the washing machine

And of course I need good shoes...
Yep... I'm a girl..

I dug into the materials and found out that the production of 1 T-shirt alone costs 2700 Liters water...
And the production of 1 pair of jeans 600 Liters
When you know that only 1% of all the water on the planet is drinkable water, it might be a good idea to be a little more conscious about it.
We don't do very well without water...

So what are sustainable/carbon neutral options for clothes?
Well: of course there is the ever present option of
*refuse (to buy that is  ... just keep what you've got until they need to be replaced; you've probably got enough clothes anyway... - also a good reason to watch your weight - 
*reduce (hmm can be tough at times, not buying anything..)
* re-use Like in Thrift stores
* recycle Swap! 

Swap with friends can be a really good one; organise a clothing market evening where you take all the stuff you bought that were misfits and swop them with your friends. and voila! 

And when you choose  a thrift store, preferably chose one in a fancy town like Greenwich, CT; they've got your designer brands, hihi!
But you've got to be in the States to be able to go there. Hmmm

How do I know the green clothes really are green? 
Well in Holland there is a site called goedewaar.nl that has a clothes brand checker

Hoi!

Het wordt echt weer kouder! Tijd voor dikke jassen, sjaals, handschoenen en dikke truien.
Enneh... Als fotograaf heb je natuurlijk ontzettend goeie kleren nodig. Ja he? Ja he? LOL

Je snapt m al, als vrouw grijp ik natuurlijk alle mogelijkheden om nieuwe kleren te kunnen kopen.
Maarrr, als groene fotograaf  ga ik natuurlijk wel beter letten op de opties...

Zo las ik bijvoorbeeld dat:

De productie van 1 T-shirt  2700 Liter water kost...
De productie van 1 spijkerbroek 600 Liter
En dat slechts 1% van al het water op deze planeet is drinkwater, dus het is heel leuk als we daar handig mee omgaan, gezien we niet zo lang zonder water kunnen.
Sowieso is een groener merk zonder chemicalieen beter voor je huid, je grootste orgaan dat van alles opneemt en daarmee ook voor de arbeiders die de kleding maken.
Een goed idee dus om een fair trade keurmerk of 'organic' label te kiezen.

Wat zijn mijn groene kleding opties? Waar kun je die groenere kleding vinden?
- Letten op productie omstandigheden met  respect voor mens milieu
- Ik kan natuurlijk uitgaan van t aloude : refuse, reduce, re-use, recycle... bijvoorbeeld viaMijnmiskoop.nl (het woord zegt het al; er zijn meerdere mensen die wel 'es iets kopen dat niet handig is...)
- Er bestaat de www.waardekaart.nl; op die site staan ook allerlei opties aangegeven
- En andere ste die ik vond en waar je leuke groene kleding opties kunt vinden:Goedewaar.nl 
- Miss-Green.nl (hele goeie brek gevonden!) en Sammie (delen) en natuurlijk Marktplaats.nl
